Many Americans cannot or simply refuse to read. I am not implying that most are illiterate, what I am saying is that we as a society have forgotten the joy of opening up a book and using are imaginations to supply the imagery. By my calculations taking a family of 4 to the movies costs about 60 dollars (when you include snacks and drinks). That 60 dollar cost doesn’t even include the price of the gas to get there and any dinner associated with the night out. If you were to schedule a family reading time followed by discussion, you not only save 60 dollars but you also are spending quality family time together talking about what you have just read. While this may sound a little corny I would be willing to bet somewhere down the line you will wish you had the ability to spend quality time with your family. Take the time now why you still have the chance.
I am a football fanatic. Although I prefer to watch NFL games from the comfort of my living room I will go to every college or high school game that I can. Aside from my love of the game they are also cheap entertainment. It costs me about 10 dollars a ticket to go to a game at the university and costs us 2 dollars per adult (students get in free) at the high school. Even when you include food and drinks going to the high school game costs us less than 20 dollars.
