So, I’m waiting in the car while my girlfriend runs into the pharmacy for some over the counter medication. After about 15 minutes I decide to go into the store to see whats taking so long. I find her standing in front a wall of what must have been 200 options, with a confused look on her face. So, I ask her whats wrong and she tells me she doesn’t know which one she should buy. I ask her why didn’t she ask the pharmacist, who is literally 20 feet away from where she is standing. She tells me that she didn’t know she could.
I wonder how many people have no idea that in addition to doling out prescription meds, the pharmacist exists to give you useful information. I guess with them being on the other side of the counter people don’t think they can be approached. Nothing could be further from the truth, they are there to help. So instead of possibly taking the wrong medication you should tell a trained professional your symptoms so they can help you make the best decision for your health.
I think I’m coming down with something and this weather isn’t really helping me out. One day the temperature is hovering around 80 degrees and then the next day its back down in the 40′s. Its that time ofyear when you never know how to dress because when you leave your house in the morning its late spring but when you are coming home it feels more like November. Now I’m suffering the consequences. The other day there was a 34 degree temperature swing in less than10 hours, definitely not a normal weather pattern.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone reading this blog. Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday as it gives me the ability to spend time with my family. Since I no longer live near many of them there aren’t as many chances to enjoy the company of eachother. As you get older and start branching off into your own lives its perfectly normal to “grow apart” from others. All it takes is for a job to take you to another part of the country or world and contact becomes that much more difficult. I have 2 brothers and 2 more sisters so with 5 of us you can only imagine the difficulties. While Christmas tends to be a holiday we spend with our new immediate families, Thanksgiving is always reserved for all of us to return to where we grew up, an opportunity that I relish.
You know how the saying goes, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. That saying has been especially true since the invention of Ebay. This time of year is the height of garage sale season so take the time on a Saturday afternoon to go on a scavenger hunt. Just because someone else no longer have use for certain items doesn’t mean they aren’t useful or better yet have value. Usefulness isn’t limited to ebayable items. Two years ago I was able to get a dozen playstation 2 games for my nephew for about 40 dollars, sure they were older games but he is 9 and they were all in great condition so it made a wonderful birthday present.
Now amazon has entered into the business of reselling video games so things are even better. They repackage the games and grade their condition so you pretty much know exactly what you are getting before it arrives in the mail. Just like everything else that can be done online this saves me the trouble of having to scour garage sales as Amazon allows me to search for exactly what it is that I want but unlike ebay I know I their quality control measures are in place.
